13th National Thalassaemia Conference and Workshops - Lahore

Mr. Rahman Ali Sahil, Administration Al-Fajar Foundation Swat and General Body member of Thalassaemia Federation of Pakistan, participated in the 13th National Thalassaemia Conference at Fatima Jinnah Medical University Lahore. This year 52 societies participated in the Conference. Main points of concerns in the presentations done by the doctors were Iron Chelation, precautions to avoid Iron overload and treatment of Chelation therapy. In his presentation Chairman Bait-ul-Mal pledged to extend the registration quota for Thalassaemia Patients from 15000 to 20000 in which the needy patients will be provided with free of cost medicines. During the lunch hosted by CM Punjab for the societies and Thalassaemia Patients, the management of the societies requested for some National level policies and operational relief from the government.
After the conference yearly, scheduled meeting of the Executive Committee of TFP was organized and it was decided that this year a Whatsapp group on National Level will be established to look after the operations of societies to ensure the quality services to the Thalassaemia patients in Pakistan.
